Inspiration

I often approach writing practice from a place of inspiration and stillness. I do this by reading poetry or prose from authors whose profound words pull the trigger for me to start sprinting with my pen. Below are phrases and poetry that have inspired my practice.

The Brain-is wider than the Sky-
For-put them side by side-
The one the other will contain
With ease- and You-beside-

The Brain is deeper than the sea-
For-hold them-Blue to Blue-
The one the other will absorb-
As Sponges-Buckets-do-

The Brain is just the weight of God-
For-Heft them- Pound for Pound-
And they will differ- if they do-
As Syllable from Sound
~ Emily Dickinson

And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of our hand
And Eternity in an hour.

But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity’s sun rise.
